ALASKA

INTRODUCTION:
What thoughts come to mind with the phrase whide-open spaces, towering mountains and local people hunting, and fishing for there food? They sound like a description of the Old West. but they also fit Alaska. in the words of the state Motto its "North to the Future" for todays new pioneers. They are attracted by Alaska's promises of unspoiled wilderness, rich mineral resources, and a challenging natural inviorment. Alaska is a land of extemes. It far and away the largest state in the nation, it is also the most northern-and the iciest. Although it is probably the first on the continent touched by human being, Alaska remains one the least populated. Yet it is americas last and most glorious-frontier.
